The have it point to the location of the backup and open the backup and select the backup moment to restore from. Normally I'd expect you to have created acronis bootable media on for example a usb drive and boot from that. So you'd get windows back to the exact state it was in at time of backup. If you restore the whole laptopn, it simply overwrites the whole drive with the data from the backup. With whole restore being done before you ran into issues, you mean that you make an inage level backup of the whole laptop and not just some files or directories?Īcronis does not reinstall anything.

Obsessive about latest drivers/versions etc.

I thought I had been vigilant - in fact my last full PC backup from this Acronis Software was just yesterday. I really BADLY want to restore this to how it was. Now to say I have spent nearly a year perfecting this PC with dozens of programs, Microsoft Office, High end games, utilities, millions of little tweaks - would not be an understatement.

I installed Acronis after the new install today, but it just doesn't "SEE" my backups from yesterday's version of Acronis.

So I know the data is there! I would prefer to know how to do this again, with the newly installed Windows. Ironically, I tested the backups yesterday too - and managed to do an entire PC restore, flawlessly. Or am I going to cause an almighty conflict somewhere? Am I able to simply replace each folder in Windows with the folders from WIndows.Old? I see all my former programs listed in their individual folders in there. Windows has been reinstalled but I can't recover my backups from the Acronis software, presumably because Windows 11 doesn't recognize the backed-up data as having come from this PC. Well, I can't boot onto that drive for some reason, the bios doesn't recognize it as bootable media. I know it's not a hardware issue so I booted into the bios and I reinstalled Windows11 in the hope the Acronis (Western Digital Backup software) Backup I had made on an external hard drive (WD MyBook 3TB) would simply reinstall my previous version of Windows, and would reinstall all my programs. I restarted but no signal was going to the monitor.
